‘Mists and Meadows 1’ is a fine art abstract landscape print, available on archival-quality paper or as a hand-embellished, varnished canvas.
The first in my Mists and Meadows series of four, this piece is inspired by the tranquil meadows and waterways around Newbury and Thatcham.
I set out to capture the calm and gentle peace of this landscape, using horizontal bands of soft colour to echo the view across fields, water, and distant hills.
The composition features a gentle symmetry and an open, airy feel, with the horizon line drawing your gaze across the piece.
Muted blues, greens, and touches of ochre create a soothing, natural palette—blues for tranquillity, greens for life, and ochre for warmth.
Light is subtle, with soft contrasts that suggest a misty, overcast day and heighten the sense of serenity.
