This is the third piece in my Mists and Meadows series, inspired by the tranquil beauty of Newbury and Thatcham’s landscapes.
My aim was to capture the quiet feeling by the water and fields, using horizontal bands of soft colour to evoke the calm, layered countryside.
The composition features broad bands of blues and greens, balanced but not strictly symmetrical, creating a sense of spaciousness.
The palette is gentle, with soft blues and greens blending naturally—like the sky meeting the land—bringing a peaceful, soothing mood.
Light in this piece is diffused and subtle, with soft contrast that adds depth without harshness, much like the gentle countryside light I see here.
