Uffington White Horse
The Uffington White Horse is a prehistoric figure formed from deep trenches filled with crushed white chalk.
It is 360 ft long.
Situated on the upper slopes of Whitehorse Hill in the parish of Uffington, in Oxfordshire, it forms part of the scarp of the beautiful Berkshire Downs.
The horse was created sometime between 1380 and 550 BC, during the late Bronze Age and the early Iron Age.
It is the oldest of all the white horse figures in Britain and the only one with this particular design.
In 2003, ‘The Guardian’ newspaper printed that “for more than 3,000 years the Uffington White Horse has been jealously guarded as a masterpiece of minimalist art”.
Influenced by the vintage travel posters of the 1920s to the 1940s, the print captures the presence of the Uffington White Horse and combines a fresh modern graphic style with stunning colours that bring it entirely up to date
